Another movie I recently saw, “Charlie and the Choclate Factory“, was one I told myself I’d never like. Yet I loved it. It is the remake of the 1971 cult classic “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”. I loved Gene Wilder in the original which led me to be skeptical of Johnny Depp (Who I think is a superb actor).

In the most recent version of the film they had more of a background story on Willy Wonka. You find out about his home life that made him who he is today. Now I don’t want to give too much away on that part. Mainly because I think it is a very interesting point of the story surrounding the ever-mysterious Willy Wonka. They made some noticeable changes with the newer version of the movie, but it makes it a unique and must see film.

If you’ve been on the fence about seeing the movie I suggest you wait no more. This is in my humble opinion a MUST SEE movie. With the differences between the two it is an almost completely new movie. I give it 4 ½ wonka bars out of 5!

The current craze hitting the streets is the movie “Snakes on a Plane”. It stars Samuel L. Jackson who must deliver a witness of a mob murder to Los Angeles from Hawaii. The mafia had other plans. They timed a large chamber to release hundreds of poisonous snakes onto the aircraft when the plane was in the middle of its voyage. Obviously with it being directly over the Pacific Ocean there was no where for the plane to land.

Now you’ll remember that back in January I had first posted about the potential movie coming out. Before that I had heard about the movie back in September of 2005. Eleven months before the movie would be hitting theaters!

So, I saw the movie last Saturday. It had some obvious flaws in it that any decent person could have fixed, and made the movie better. Overall though it was an enjoyable movie…pretty much centered around the one line we all wanted to hear. When he uttered his displeasure for the snakes using graphic language like “mother fucker” the theatre went silent.

I’d rate the movie 3 deadly snakes out of 5. GO SEE IT NOW, DON’T EVEN WAIT GO NOW DAMN IT!

Song Of The Week: PEACHES!

This week's song is by the group "Presidents of the United States of America". You've probably heard of them before. One of their other big hits is "Lump". This one is one of my personal favorites. The album those songs are featured on is the self titled debut for the band.

I also chose this song has a dedication to someone that doesn't even read this blog. I like being an ass about things, and with this being an inside joke it makes me a huge ass!

"The Smell"

I know crappy title. Anyway just let me know what you think.

The smell was putrid. It was like someone had left a pound of beef in a 120 degree sweat box. Barely up the first 2 flights of stairs that distinct odor was overpowering. Even with our masks on the stench was almost enough to drive us back to the safety our of trucks. Many of the neighbors had abandoned their living quarters until we could clean up whoever or whatever was left in that apartment.

We arrived at the 3rd floor, the building was quite rundown and the sun shown through many cracks and windows. Baking whatever was unfortunate enough to be in the building. Which had neither fans nor air conditioning. I knew the smell would only get worse once we stepped over the threshold to a new found hell. The four of us made eye contact and nodded before entering.

Sun quickly filled the gap between the now opening door. Like a band aid we knew the quicker we got in the less it would hurt. I was always told that the smell of a rotting corpse would be a smell you’d never forget, but this was so much more then I had anticipated. Busting through the door I expected to see a rotting corpse right there in front of me and blood splattering the walls. To my somewhat appeasement I saw neither. However, the smell still lingered.

We split up, 2 teams of 2. Myself and Adam went to check out the obvious places around the tight quartered apartment. Bathroom. Nothing. Well except for the cockroaches in the shower. By now the adrenaline was pumping. I really expected to enter the bedroom and find the body of some crack whore, or maybe if I was lucky I’d get to see some mass murder scene. All that was in the bedroom was a bed with some needles. At least I knew a drug addict did inhabit this place at one point.

Figuring we had the wrong apartment, which you could never be sure the stench was everywhere. Adam and I were about to get the other two and take a breather when the screams of an 8 year old girl echoed throughout the home. Quickly we rushed to the kitchen area to find one of the most shocking scenes I’ve ever been a part of. Considering I’ve seen semi-trucks sandwich sedans. Pipes impale unsuspecting drivers. You name I’ve probably thrown up while seeing it. So when I say this is the most shocking thing I’ve ever seen…it must have been rather serious.

Blood covered the linoleum floors. The smell is impossible at this point to describe in words. Just take my word for it that it was horrendous! Quickly we realized there was no one in the house, and that the bone chilling screams came from just outside the house where a friendly game of hide and seek was taking place. If only I could be out there with this mess behind me. The innocence of a kid.

We all were startled to hear someone else behind, quickly turning around our eyes met those of an elderly gentleman about 70 years old. He was carrying a sack of freshly cut portions of beef when he asked us “What in Sam hill” we were doing snooping around his house. When we told him that there was blood on his floor, and the smell was obviously that of a dead being he quickly laughed it off. He took us back into his kitchen and opened up a makeshift locker…a meat locker. A rotting meat locker to be more precise.

This weeks song of the week is “Cemetery Gates” by Pantera. It comes from the album that basically put them on the map “Cowboys From Hell”. It can also be found on their greatest hits album. I chose this song because today would have been the 40th birthday of late Pantera/Damageplan guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott. He also worked on a Heavy Metal/Country hybrid with David Allan Coe, Rex Brown, and Vinnie Paul called Rebel Meets Rebel. Vinnie Paul released that album, which was recorded while Pantera was still touring, on May 2nd of this year.

Movie Review Monday: "Hostel"

“Hostel” is a movie about 2 college kids and their drifter friend looking for some action in Europe. They are turned to Slovakia where the women are the most beautiful! Before they know what to do they find out that the beautiful chicks are just there to entice these men into the dungeons where they are sold so that people’s most tortuous and perverse fantasies can be fulfilled.

I just finished watching the DVD (Which I purchased at Best Buy for 9 bucks, I also got Spiderman 2 for 4). Nevertheless the movie was lacking something. Sure there was the gore that was promised, but there was something in the puzzle that didn’t quite end. It was almost has if they rushed the ending of the movie to get it to just 94 minutes. The first half of the movie is pretty much naked chicks and dope smoking, while the 2nd half gets rather bloody.

I would recommend this movie to people who want to see some gore and disgusting footage, but if you are turned off by that sort of thing, this may not be the movie for you.

I give it 3 severed limbs out of 5. Not a bad movie, but not great either.

SONG OF THE WEEK!

I found this cool lyrics site Metrolyrics.com. They have a feature where you copy a short HTML code and can post lyrics in a small box on your blog or website. So I decided it would be a good idea to start a “Song Of The Week” feature. To really get a feel for the song you should listen to it. How you acquire the songs are none of my business either. But every song that post on the site will have been purchased by me. That’s all I’m saying about that. *wink*

Anyway, this weeks song of the week is off of Shinedown’s first album “Leave A Whisper”. Their debut album was released in July of 2003, where we get the song “Stranger Inside”. Just look to your left and see the lyrics scrolling up the screen!

I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!

I can’t take it anymore. I’m seething with anger right now. I’m sick of the world…politically that is. It seems that we here in the United States will basically throw anyone under the bus if he even looks at someone from the other party the wrong way.

On Tuesday evening Senator Joe Lieberman was defeated by challenger Ned Lamont. Lieberman had spent 18 years in the senate. Why after all these years would Connecticut vote out a senator like Lieberman. Because he “kissed” the hated President Bush. Joe Lieberman is a true democrat. He’s for embryonic stem cell research, voted no to a constitutional ban on gay marriage. But because he didn’t hate Bush has much has Neddy Boy he lost. If this is how we are going to use our right to vote then why even use it? It should be about what a person stands for, not who he hates the most.

How am I supposed to vote for a party that seems to be in full support of Michael Moore. I’ve never been of the mindset to call someone un-American or anti-American because that person didn’t agree with my views, but Moore is truly un-American. He’s against everything that this country is all about. He’s a complete nut case.

Why is it that we are so stubborn about bringing in new sources of energy so that we aren’t dependant on the Middle East? When the shit really hit’s the fan other there we could be without gasoline. We’d be vulnerable more then ever if our economy went to hell.

If I hear one more thing about global warming I’m going to fucking go nuts! 30 years ago the next ice age was inevitable. Now it’s too hot. We have a bad hurricane season, and its all the gas guzzling assholes fault who always drive those shiny new cars.

I don’t like getting real political with this blog, but I just needed to get this off of my chest.

Nothing to post, 2 months later.

Well it's been almost 2 months since I last posted. I just wanted to let everyone know that might read this, which is about 1, that I am fine. Just completely uninterested in trying to force something onto page that sucks. I'll be back soon I think. I feel the creative juices boiling inside.
